A history of Lipa Lodge Beach Resort

Lipa Lodge Beach Resort is situated on the west coast of Koh Samui, directly by the sea and soft sand beach. It takes its name from the surrounding area, Lipa Noi.

Lipa Lodge was established in 1972 by an award winning chef, Khun Toni originally from Surathani on the mainland. Toni fell in love with island’s environment; the sea, beach, the calmness and the local lifestyle. Over the years he and his family made many friends in Koh Samui.

To maintain the air of tranquillity very little has changed and the 25 acre garden setting ensures the secluded island feeling with just a handful of buildings which include the luxury of modern conveniences and all accommodation is fitted with air conditioning . Everything has been thought about to preserve the natural feel of the island right down to the celebrated cuisine of the restaurant set at the sea’s edge…Many say this is the real Koh Samui.

Traditionally on Samui, the fishermen and women fished in the bay, bringing their catch in everyday - morning and evening. The sea then, as today, was full of a wide variety of fish. Back in 1972 cooking fish and eating them on the beach was normal practice. This was the lifestyle that Toni loved and wanted his guests to experience.

Over the years Samui began to modernise. Lipa Lodge moved with the times yet Toni wanted to retain the atmosphere and natural environment.

Today Lipa Lodge, a Koh Samui boutique beach resort, has 11 modern bungalows close to the sea and set in beautiful gardens. Its boutique accommodation is as peaceful, tranquil and inspiring as it was in 1972.

Another special advantage of Lipa Lodge is that it shares some of the best sunset views on the island. People come from all around to relax, listen to music and watch the sun setting.

The sea is safe for swimming and the beaches are cleaned every day - ideal for families with children.

Our 11 luxury modern and comfortable air conditioned bungalows are set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens and are within stepping distance from the soft sandy beach.

Each bungalow has a balcony on which to sit and relax; listening to the gently lapping waves and watching some of the most spectacular sunsets on Samui.

Our restaurant, with spectacular views across the sea, is known for its exceptional award winning cuisine. It is highly recommended in many guide books for its Thai and International menu and our Chef is well known and highly regarded.

The restaurant is set in tropical landscaped gardens, enhanced with ornamental features and lit beautifully at night.

Our infinity pool, beside the powder sand beach, provides a picturesque backdrop and the perfect place to relax.
